Welcome to the Learning for a Cause Blog! We are a student-led volunteer-based
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free virtual tutoring services to students K-8 in Math, Science, and English. Our organization aims to mitigate economic barriers to education, allowing students to prosper based on merit and hard work.
I founded Learning for a Cause because I felt that all students should all have the same educational opportunities I grew up with the ability to afford private tutoring when I needed it. It was a luxury that was commonplace to me but might not have been for my next-door neighbor. This issue has been a point of much controversy in the media, yet little has been done to alleviate it. While students still receive a public education, there are some things a classroom environment can’t provide. While I love and respect my teachers and think they are the pillars of our society, a classroom environment with 20+ students represents 20 individual sets of needs and learning styles. Private tutoring allows students to learn in a way that is most conducive to their learning style, strengths, and weaknesses. We want to provide children who may not have the means to afford private tutoring on their own, with the same personalized education. We accept students of all backgrounds for tutoring regardless of economic and demographic characteristics.
As an organization, our goals extend beyond tutoring. Through our community repayment initiative, we plan to raise and donate funds to organizations that help combat and spread awareness about societal problems. This may be done through direct donations to reputable charities working toward important goals or awareness events hosted by or in cooperation with us.
With that said, I would like to move on to some other plans for the organization and this blog. The blog will be used to provide educational information to our audience as well to provide periodical updates about the organization and any upcoming events. If there is anything you would like us to write about, please submit your ideas here. We also plan on starting an educational virtual video series, with corresponding notes. We will focus on everyday topics/subjects of concern in live and prerecorded forms. If you have any specific topics you would like us to make a video on let us know here.
